Though it was not designed this way we were reminded during our casino fundraiser just how naturally inter-generational relationships are formed. One young adult volunteer in particular worked side by side with two senior ladies in the cash cage both nights of our fundraiser. Each time LINKages staff checked in on the group there was laughter, great conversation and even some spontaneous card games happening. The volunteer admitted, with a chuckle, that he had been beaten handily at each card game attempted. He recalled that when he was younger he used to play cards with his grandmother, who was also known to be competitive, so the interaction came quite naturally even for a somewhat shy and quiet person. By the end of the casino the seniors were thrilled to invite their new friend to their local community dance, they were even happier when he said he could attend.
