Sophie Sapergia holds a Masters of Social Work, specializing in gerontology from the University of Calgary and is a certified Project Management Professional with Alberta Health Services. Sophie has been on LINKages’ Board of Directors since 2010. 20 years ago she learned the value of fostering intergenerational connections as a youth volunteer, working with seniors living in long-term care in her Alberta home town. Sophie's career focuses on improving services and supports for seniors living with dementia and their families. Sophie managed the development of Canadian guidelines for seniors’ mental health services and she has participated in Canada-wide and international research and service development initiatives.
Kristine Williamson joined the board of directors in the Fall of 2012 and became Vice-President of the Board in 2015. Kristine is passionate about the experiences and relationships that LINKages facilitates to create a more inclusive and connected community. Kristine leads an integrated team of development and communications professionals at the Alberta College of Art + Design. As Executive Director, Engagement, she and her team advance ACAD's vision by building and nurturing community relationships to support students, faculty and alumni in their creative endeavors. Kristine brings experience and leadership in relationship-building and fundraising to LINKages.
Cecilia Low joined the Board of Directors of LINKages in the fall of 2012, becoming Board Chair in 2013. Cecilia is both and engineer and a lawyer, practicing in the fields of energy, environmental and aboriginal law for over 20 years before being appointed as a Commissioner of the new Alberta Energy Regulator. She has previous not-for-profit board experience as a member of the Decidedly Jazz Danceworks Board of Directors in 1987-1990.
Ifeoma Ngwudike is a professional accountant currently working with Bow Valley College as a Financial Analyst. She joined Linkages as Board Treasurer in February, 2015. She has also volunteered in various capacities with other not-for-profits including serving as a Board Treasurer, Calgary Fireworks Festival/ GlobalFest. Ifeoma is passionate about learning and connects strongly with how Linkages fosters intergenerational learning and loves to tell the stories behind the numbers. Ifeoma is a CPA & CMA.
Maria Block first became involved with LINKages Society while participating in a volunteer planning committee for Intergenerational Day. Since then, her interest in the organization has grown and she has been an active Board Director for three years. As the marketing manager of a printing company that has over 25,000 customers across Canada and the United States, she brings over 7 years of strategic planning experience and project management skills.
Sammy Ahn is a chemical engineering graduate from the University of Calgary currently working as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) at TransCanada Corp. Sammy became involved with LINKages during his last year of high school in 2010 when he was leader of the Sir Winston Churchill High School After-School Program. His involvement with LINKages continued on with his post-secondary studies when he founded the LINKages U of C Chapter in 2012. Sammy has experienced first-hand, the lasting impact of intergenerational connections and has recently joined the LINKages' Board as Board Secretary.
Sheryl Philips joined the LINKages board in 2015 and is a passionate advocate for creating lasting connections between youth and seniors. Sheryl is the HR Director at Innova Global.
Mae Chun has been LINKages Society's Executive Director since 2014. Mae has extensive experience in the non-profit sector, especially in the field of serving vulnerable populations. She brings with her an award-winning track record in program development, management and building effective work teams.
