Our Origins

Founded in 1994, our purpose was to find ways for young people to make a positive contribution to their community.  As the Friends of Seniors Foundation, our goal was to look for opportunities to create caring partnerships between teens and seniors.  In 1994, a program was developed with 24 students from St. Michaels Junior High School and 12 seniors living at Carewest Sarcee Care Centre.

Our Success

In 2005-06, over 500 individuals were involved in our programs, with 339 youth volunteers and 189 senior participants.  Our success can be measured by the growing interest in our programs and we currently have a wait list of schools and care facilities.  The positive relationships that transpire are very encouraging; however, we also need to secure additional funding to make a larger impact.
