About Us
LINKages is a community-based registered charity, first founded as the Friends of Seniors in 1994. LINKages programs
-
build bridges between generations;
-
decrease negative attitudes and myths;
-
promote greater understanding and respect between generations;
-
and instill the benefits of citizen engagement.
LINKages develops, coordinates and supervises activities that foster interaction between youth and seniors in safe, structured and caring learning environments. We have established proven methods and programs for developing successful, mutually-beneficial relationships between seniors and young people.
Our activities and programs build cooperation, interaction and connections between two generations and encourage sharing of skills, knowledge and experience between young and old.
Research confirms that intergenerational exchanges are instrumental in facilitating positive and substantial relationships between those who would not otherwise come into contact with each other.
