Over the last 2018-2019 IG School Program term, LINKages witnessed seniors, youth, and new volunteer facilitators come on board to help strengthen communities through bridging the generation gap! Together, youth and seniors have shared stories, played games, creatively designed crafts, and have become friends when once they were strangers.
LINKages is welcoming the opportunity to partner with new IG School Program Facilitators to join the 2019-2020 term. From Oct-May of each year, volunteer facilitators provide a developed curriculum to groups of youth & seniors & support the transfer of knowledge, connection, & skill development. Youth in both Jr & High Schools have received the necessary sensitivity training and each school is connected with a care facility in the city. Facilitators offer support in facilitating the various activities planned for each group in a specific care facility. Facilitator training is onsite and there are both weekly and bi-weekly volunteer positions available.
If the idea of helping youth and seniors come together stirs something within you, email info@link-ages.ca to find out more or visit Propellus’ site to view the volunteer role.
