LINKages’ Staff Shares How She’s Connecting with Her Grandkids During COVID-19

🙌 One of our Care Centre/School Program Coordinators, Betty, shares how she has been learning to connect meaningfully with her grandkids during COVID-19:⁣

“Since COVID-19 has made it difficult for me to ‘hang out’ with my grandkids, we’ve had to be resourceful so we wouldn’t lose our connection. New ways of connecting have included having Zoom dinners together, hanging out in ‘Houseparty’ and chatting with each other, playing Backgammon via iMessage. The grandkids have kids’ Messenger and we have a ‘Grandma Group’ going. ⁣

One of my granddaughters sends me a message every morning and evening, when she gets up and before she goes to bed. Another one Facetimes me just to chat, or to tell me something new in her life – like losing a tooth! It’s been fun getting to know my grandchildren in ways I never dreamt of! It’s nice to have a unique and special relationship with each of them that COVID-19 can’t diminish.”⁣
