NEW IG Outreach Pilot Program
The new Intergenerational (IG) Outreach pilot program brings together older adults and young adult Outreach Visitors for regular intergenerational friendly visiting and in-home support. The program offers one-on-one support to older adults living independently in the community who would benefit from a little extra support and socialization.
We believe that positive intergenerational interactions can significantly impact the quality of life for older adults and provide meaningful employment opportunities in the field of aging for young adults, creating a win-win situation for everyone involved.

How does the program work?
The IG Outreach pilot program matches older adults living in the community in need of companionship and light assistance at home with compassionate and dedicated young adult Outreach Visitors for regular intergenerational friendly visits. Outreach Visitors are trained and paid to provide weekly in-home social visits and light task help.
During the visits, matches engage in activities together, based on the interests and goals of the older adult. Whether it’s sharing stories, playing games, taking walks, or pursuing hobbies together, these interactions foster a sense of connection and understanding that can have a profound impact on the well-being of our older community members.
What services do Outreach Visitors provide?
Outreach Visitors play a crucial role in providing companionship, social and emotional support, and light task assistance to older adults. By offering their time and skills, Outreach Visitors enable older adults to continue living independently in the comfort of their own homes and communities. Through regular visits, matches become not just companions but also a valuable source of friendship and support.
Program Goals:
We believe that positive interactions with young adults can enhance the overall well-being of older adults. By fostering meaningful connections, the IG Outreach Pilot Program seeks to improve the quality of life for all participants.
Loneliness and social isolation can be significant challenges for older adults. The program aims to respond to these challenges by facilitating home visitation between generations and bridging support to community as needed. Together, we can create a stronger, more inclusive community.
In addition to making a difference in the lives of older adults, the program also serves as an opportunity for young adults to gain valuable insights into the field of gerontology. By engaging in this intergenerational experience, we hope to ignite interest in working with older adults and inspire the next generation of caregivers and professionals in the field of aging.
We recognize the importance of providing young adults with flexible, meaningful employment opportunities while also ensuring our service is accessible to those who need it most. We offer subsidized rates on a sliding scale based on income to ensure our services are accessible and that Outreach Visitors make a living wage.
