It’s a heartbreak …. to turn away so many students.

We began the LINKages school program with an Information Session for the students, organised in collaboration with our enthusiastic school partners. In September and early October, we delivered the sessions at 14 school locations and 686 students attended. That makes an average of 49 students at each school location, of which only 26-28 students will be accepted (alas ).  It was total heartbreak to have to turn away SO MANY students!

While all that is going on, other preparations are also taking place such as arranging for bus transportation for students, setting up student training dates, preparing training kits, revising training materials and lots and lots of meetings at schools and care centres. Indeed the pace at our office in recent months has been frenetic, but so full of energy and enthusiasm. Our next phase is focussed on student training and pairing of students with seniors, done collaboratively with schools and care centres.

While a huge amount of coordination takes place, we are indeed blessed with having really superb school teachers, care centre staffs and adult volunteers who makes the program possible. It does indeed take a whole village to raise a child!

Hope this gets everyone up to speed with our recent developments. On behalf of our students, seniors and staff, we THANK all our FUNDERS & SUPPORTERS for making it possible for students and seniors to connect meaningfully and in the process create better lives for each other.

We thank you!
