Put together 6 energetic youths from the Bow Valley College and University of Calgary and 100 hungry seniors; a delicious turkey meal cooked up by chef Fred and his amazing team of helpers and you get a party that is full of merriment, chatter and laughter. It was pure joy just to be in the dining room of the Murdoch Manor in the East Village, listening to excited conversations, seeing many hi’s and hello’s being exchanged. You could almost feel the happiness and uplifted spirits in the room, each diner sending greetings of ‘Happy Thanksgiving’ to one another across the room. Seniors were toe tapping, swaying and dancing to really good country music performed by Jim Paxton, while youths were kept busy delivering platefuls of goodies to each table. To our selfless volunteers who spent their holiday Thanksgiving Monday evening serving up hope and happiness to seniors who have so little, we SALUTE you!
